As January approaches, everyone has new years resolutions on their mind. The unfortunate part is that more times than not, people do not end up sticking to them. As real estate agents, you are always busy and on the go and it is easy to let them fall by the wayside. Make 2018 different by keeping your resolutions simple and attainable. By doing this, you are more likely to reach your goals which in turn gives you a positive boost and you will find yourself selling more homes along the way.
Below are eight new years resolutions for real estate agents to start the new year off on the right foot.
1. Take at least 5 minutes and turn off your cell phone
We all know how technology is such an ingrained part of our everyday lives. Sometimes it can be too much. For your own sanity, it is essential to decompress and disconnect. Meditate, close your eyes. Whatever works for you. Just enjoy the silence and you will definitely feel refreshed.
2. Get one new lead each week
In order to keep your business growing, you need to be actively seeking new leads. They say that you can get up to 50 new leads per year with an active Instagram account. Facebook and LinkedIn are also great lead generators so don’t forget to utilize those as well.
3. Post a minimum of once a week on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
Whether you use or like social media platforms, they serve a great purpose for real estate agents. Whether you are browsing on Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat, you will encounter everyone from mortgage companies to real estate agents leveraging the many advantages these platforms offer. Lead generation, increased brand awareness, sales and more are just a few of the benefits. With this in mind, it is important to have a consistent presence on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
4. Get your continuing education work done ahead of time
Continuing education is an essential part of succeeding as a real estate agent. You have certain requirements that are dictated by the real estate licensing board. The most important areas are technology, financial literacy and productivity and all three can really help boost an agent’s career. This should be one your top priorities and get it done asap. You can access what you need from any device anywhere. So next time you are sitting in your car waiting for your buyer to show up, work on getting your CE taken care of.
5. Make your car your mobile office
As a real estate agent, you are doing work from your office to your car. In order to make your car fully functional as a mobile office, you need to outfit it with things like a mobile printer, a laptop desk that fits around your steering wheel and a solar recharger for each device. Just be sure to keep all the receipts to use as deductions on your taxes.
6. Update and revise your circle of influence
Your sphere of influence can be described as those people upon which you have some influence over just by simply knowing them. This can be family, friends, colleagues, people you do business with etc. As the new year approaches, you need to think about contacting them as well as growing your list. They are an excellent source for finding new leads so this is a must not forget step.
7. Add some personalization to your real estate services.
With so much competition among agents, it is crucial that you set yourself apart from the rest. Personalizing your services will give you that extra edge that will help your current and potential clients differentiate your services from other agents. A great way to achieve this is with the closing gifts you give to your clients. Pay close attention to their likes and dislikes so that they know you value them.
8. Always bring up a house in conversation
Interest rates and your opinion on the current state of the marketplace is okay for conversation but it gets old. It is way more interesting to talk about a really cool and unique property you recently saw or sold. People really enjoy hearing about homes and prices that are relevant to their situation.
